
Kateryna Yushchenko Visits Volodymyr Ivasiuk Memorial Apartment

June 18, 2009, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited Volodymyr Ivasiuk memorial apartment in Chernivtsi.
Accompanied by composer’s sister Oksana Ivasiuk, Mrs. Yushchenko toured the museum, visiting Volodymyr Ivasiuk’s and his father Mykhasylo Ivasiuk studios and vieweing the display dedicated to the composer’s life and creative work. Mrs. Kateryna made an entry in the Book of Honorable Guests.
Mrs. Yushchenko also familiarized herself with an exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ivasiuk’s death and a one-man show by Chernivtsi-based woodcutter Vasyl Shevchuk.
On behalf of Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, Mrs. Kateryna presented to the museum a set of books on art and a video camera.
The permanent exhibition at Volodymyr Ivasiuk memorial apartment was unveiled March 4, 1999, on composer’s 50th anniversary of birth. Since then the museum has become a center for popularizing Ukrainian song in its finest specimens, a site for conducting literary events, contests, concerts, and exhibition. Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members are on a one-day working trip to Chernivtsi oblast. Earlier they visited Chernivtsi Oblast Medical and Social Rehabilitation Center for Children with Organic Lesions of Nervous System, Father Mykhaylo Zhar’s children’s home, and Chernivtsi City Children’s Clinical Hospital.
