Kateryna Yushchenko Visits Missionaries of God's Love in Kyiv

June 4, 2009, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited the Missionaries of God's Love mission in Kyov. This religious community, also known as Mother Teresa’s Sisters, started its activities in Kyiv in 1991. Three sisters are working at the mission on permanent basis.
Mrs. Kateryna talked to the Sisters and Prioress Sister Andrea who told her about her work.
A soup kitchen is operating at the mission three times a week, delivering around 760 dinners every month. Every week the sisters deliver clothes to their wards. They also render financial aid to 85 families and 40 single persons. A first aid post is operating at the mission, rendering basic first aid and delivering free medicines to the poor. The sisters give spiritual support to the patients of the hospice at Holosiyiv District Hospital No. 10 and pay regular visits to the Central Railway Station, giving out food and information on spots where one can get help. Additionally, the mission has a rehabilitation shelter for people with alcohol addiction. The sisters are planning to extend their medical aid activities and construct an overnight home for homeless in the mission’s grounds.
Mrs. Kateryna toured the Mission’s facilities, visiting the soup kitchen.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation, Mrs. Kateryna handed to the Missionaries of God's Love food to the total of around UAH 4,000.
The Missionaries of God's Love order (Mother Teresa’s sisters) was founded in 1946 in India by the globally renowned missionary and philanthropist Mother Teresa. Its major goal is rendering first aid to the poorest and sick. Missionaries of God's Love are working virtually in every country in the world.
