Kateryna Yuschenko Takes Part in Soiree Commemorating Ukrainian Composer Hryhoriy Kytasty

December 2, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko took part in a soiree dedicated to the famous Ukrainian composer, musician and founder of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus Hryhoriy Kytasty. The ceremony took place at the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States with the participation of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Oleh Shamshur, members of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus, Hryhoriy Kytasty’s family and pupils, and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members. Ambassador Shamshur presented to the composer’s son Andriy the “Hero of Ukraine” Award, extended to the legendary bandurist by President of Ukraine Victor Yuschenko (posthumously). On this occasion members of the Detroit-based Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus gave a concert at the Embassy playing musical pieces by Hryhoriy Kytasty, followed by a reception for the Ukrainian American community leaders.
Mrs. Yushchenko thanked Hryhoriy Kytasty’s family and the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus for their preserving and global promoting Ukrainian culture.
Kateryna Yushchenko is staying in Washington for a working visit, whose central event is taking part in the Ukrainian Holodomor Memorial groundbreaking ceremony.
