
Kateryna Yushchenko Meets with Swiss Cardio Surgeon Paul Vogt

November 24, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko met with renowned Swiss cardio surgeon Prof. Paul Vogt. Also present at the meeting, taking place at the Ukraine 3000 Foundation headquarters, were Deputy Minister for Health Care of Ukraine Vasyl Lazoryshynets, Director of the Medical Programs Dept. with Ukraine 3000 Foundation Vira Pavliuk, and other Ukraine 3000 Foundation members.
In course of the meeting, Prof. Vogt described his work in Western Ukraine. Prof. Vogt and EurAsia Heart Charitable Foundation he chairs have been cooperating with the Lviv Oblast OKHMATDIT Children’s Clinical Hospital for many years. Within the frameworks of this cooperation, Swiss professionals share their experience with Ukrainian colleagues, give consultations, and take part in surgeries on patients with complicated cardiopathologies.
In course of his visit to Ukraine, Prof. Vogt intends to visit a number of children’s hospitals in Western Ukraine, meeting with Ukrainian cardio surgeons and other specialists performing cardio surgeries, in order to define the priorities in their cooperation, in part, through trainings for professionals and supplying necessary equipment.
Mrs. Yushchenko thanked Prof. Vogt for his attention to the problems of cardio surgery in Ukraine. She expressed her hope that the fruitful cooperation between Ukraine 3000 and EurAsiaHeart charitable foundations, starting in 2007, would continue in the future.
The parties agreed to sign a Memorandum on Cooperation.
Recall that November 6, 2007, a meeting took place between Kateryna Yushchenko and representatives of the Widenmoos Business Club, in course of which the Club’s founder Fredi Buhler described a series of initiatives of a group of Swiss-based children’s cardio surgeons, headed by Prof. Vogt and aimed at supporting doctors at the OKHMATDIT Lviv Hospital. After thoroughly considering this proposal, a trilateral Memorandum on Cooperation between the Ukraine 3000 Foundation, Slavic Foundation, and EurAsia Heart Foundation on organizing treatment and surgeries in Switzerland for Ukrainian children with heart disorders. Kateryna Yushchenko’s meeting with members of the Widenmoos Business Club and Paul Vogt in January 2008 was dedicated to this agreement’s implementation.
