
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko Visits the Museum of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising

November 7, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Poland Oleksandr Motsyk and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members also took part in the event.
Mrs. Yushchenko toured the museum exposition, talked to its management and staff members. The latter told Mrs. Kateryna the history of its foundation and described major area of its work, including the international ones. They also shared some of their plans for the future, in part, opening a permanent exhibition in Kharkiv November 22, 2008.
The Museum of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 was unveiled on the eve of July 31, 2004, on the 60th anniversary of the uprising. It presentation of the history of the Warsaw Uprising is chronology- and topic-based: from German aggression and Soviet invasion in 1939, through the period of occupation, preparations for the Uprising, its course, international situation in 1944, creating a competitive Communist center in Lublin, and to the fate of the insurgents in the Polish People’s Republic. The museum broadly uses various audio, visual, and multimedia equipment, carrying out a number of educational and cultural projects. The 156 meters long Wall of Remembrance bears the names of 6,000 people.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members are staying in Warsaw for a working visit for opening the Days of Ukrainian Cinema in Poland.
November 6, Mrs. Kateryna visited the unveiling of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine documents exhibition, attended a reception dedicated to the University of Warsaw Ukrainian Studies Chair’s international scholarly conference, and met with film director Andrzej Wajda.
