
Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s Delegation Holds Negotiations with China Soong Ching Ling Foundation Representatives

October 9-13, 2008, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation delegation came to China on an invitation from the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation. The members of the delegation were Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Head of the Development Programs Andriy Kotsiuba, and Director General of the Artek International Children’s Center Borys Novozhylov.
October 9, the Ukrainian delegation visited Soong Ching Ling residency and held negotiations with representatives of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation headed by Zhou Jianping, CSCLF Deputy Director. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to China Serhiy Kamyshev also took part in the negotiations.
The final round of negotiations took place in Beijing October 13. The Chinese delegation was headed by Li Ning, CSCLF Secretary-General.
The parties discussed a broad range of issues regarding their potential cooperation: youth delegations exchange, organizing a trip to the Artek International Children’s Center for Chinese children from the areas suffering from the earthquake, conducting joint artistic events for young people in Artek and Shanghai, creating a Ukrainian-Chinese athletic training center in Ukraine, etc.
The parties agreed to continue consultations during the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation representatives’ visit to Ukraine, scheduled for November 9-16, 2008.
Soong Ching Ling is a Chinese political figure, one of the three Soong sisters, playing a significant role in the 20th century Chinese history. In addition to her political activities, Soong Ching Ling is renowned by her public work. She created the China Welfare Institute, whose major mission is protecting women’s and children’s health and work in the areas of culture and education. Soong Ching Ling was an active fighter against the war, for peace and happiness of the humankind. In 1951 she was awarded the Stalin Prize for her contribution into protecting world’s peace, which she donated to the Chinese Welfare Foundation. Soong Ching Ling had always paid great attention to the work among women of the new China and the health of the younger generation. For a long period she was the head of the Chinese Relief Association.
The Soong Ching Ling Foundation is a renowned in China public organization, carrying out cultural and artistic events aimed at supporting children and encouraging their creativity. The Foundation organizes numerous cultural programs: musical contests, children’s photo exhibitions, etc. To encourage writers, the Foundation has established awards for best children’s book, highly prestigious in China. They have also created a literary salon, where everybody can exchange their impression of the books they read.
In October 2007, members of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, headed by Head of the Supervisory Board Kateryna Yushchenko, visited the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and met with its Vice President Tang Wensheng. By the results of the meeting, an Agreement on Cooperation was signed between the two charitable organizations.
