
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko Addresses the US Ukrainian Community

September 23, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, accompanying her husband, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, met with the US Ukrainian community representatives. Over 100 members of Ukrainian diaspora took part in the meeting, hosted by Ukrainian Institute of America in New York.
Addressing the audience, Mrs. Yushchenko described the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s key areas of activities, speaking in more detail about the initiatives aimed at work with the diaspora. In part, she spoke about the events the Ukraine 3000 Foundation plans to hold as part of commemorating the 75th Holodomor anniversary in Ukraine. Mrs. Yushchnko emphasized the importance of support the Ukrainians abroad could render to pay decent tribute to the memory of the Great Famine victims. She called upon the participants of the meeting to take part in collecting any information related to Holodomor: books, articles, and publications by members of various diaspora communities.
Mrs. Kateryna also suggested that the Ukrainian Americans took part in organizing youth summer camps in the Artek International Children’s Center.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko is staying in the United States for a working visit. Earlier she has visited the March of Dimes NGO.
