
Kateryna Yushchenko Visits March of Dimes Non-Governmental Organization in New York

September 23, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited the Dimes non-governmental organization in New York.
Mrs. Kateryna had a brief meeting with March of Dimes President Dr. Jennifer Howse and talked to Dr. Christopher Howson, Director for Global Programs, and Mary-Elizabeth Reeve, Director for Global Educational and Health Programs.
The March of Dimes representatives described to Mrs. Yushchenko their organization’s work, embracing a broad range of issues related to maternity and childhood. In part, they spoke in more detail about one of the March of Dimes areas of work: organizing and holding workshops on maternity and childhood in various countries. One of these conferences was held ion Kyiv in 2003.
In her turn, Mrs. Kateryna presented the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s medical programs: Hospital to Hospital, Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements, and, in more detail, the Children’s Hospital of the Future program.
Mrs. Yushchenko also toured the March of Dimes’ information resources center where anyone can get information on pregnancy, maternity, and childhood.
The March of Dimes NGO was founded in the 1930s with the participation of the then US president Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Its first task was fight against poliomyelitis. Today their mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. The organization provides women with information on preparing for pregnancy, correst behavior during pregnancy, and preventing premature birth.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko is staying in the United States for a working visit.
