Oleksandr Maksymchuk Attends the Finals of the Shukhevych Memorial Combat Tournament

September 4, 2008, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk attended the finals of the Shukhevych Memorial Combat Tournament, dedicated to the memory of UPA Commander-in-Chief, Hero of Ukraine Roman Shukhevych. The event was hosted by the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine and also attended by Acting SSU Head Valentyn Nalyvyahcenko and Roman Shukhevych’s son, Hero of Ukraine Yuri Shukhevych.
Addressing the audience, Mr. Maksymenko remarked on the high level of skills and training, demonstrated by the participants, “which is evidence of their ability and will to serve devotedly the interests of the Independent Ukraine.” Mr. Maksymchuk thanked the SSU for “revealing consistently and purposefully the yet unknown pages of our history. (…) This tournament proves that the SSU is equally consequent and purposeful in upbringing true Ukrainian patriots ready to devote their lives to what Shukhevych had sacrificed his life for: the Independent Ukraine.”
The participants of the finals of the Shukhevych Memorial Combat Tournament, dedicated to the memory of UPA Commander-in-Chief, Hero of Ukraine Roman Shukhevych, were SSU staff workers and children, members of the National Combat Federation’s groups. As a part of the tournament’s schedule, the Roman Shukhevych: Life and Destiny photo exhibition was demonstrated, based on the documents, long-preserved in the state archives.
