Kateryna Yushchenko Visits Artek International Children’s Center

August 18, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko with her children visited the Artek International Children’s Center.
Mrs. Yushchenko visited the Kryshtalevy [Chrystal] and Lazurny [Azure] camps. At Kryshtalevy she talked to children from the flooded areas of Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts.
At the Lazurny Camp the guests were presented the Ukraine and I program for patriotic upbringing, which had been made the basis for pedagogic work in Artek starting from this year. Besides, on the State Flag Day the flag of Ukraine was first hoisted at the Adalari Rocks.
In the afternoon, Mrs. Kateryna and her children took part in the celebration prepared by participants of the Ukraine Our Land All-Ukrainian Children’s Festival, winners of the Step to the Stars program, and laureates of the highest presidential award for children, Star of Ukraine. The Star Cruise gala concert was prepared by Artek ICC together with the Kyiv National University of Culture and the Arts.
Mrs. Yushchenko greeted all spectators and performers. She wished all present, both Ukrainian and foreign children, nice vacations and many pleasant impressions. Mrs. Kateryna addressed the children from Western Ukraine’s flooded regions, expressing her hope that they and their families could feel the whole country’s sympathy and support.
In total, over 3,000 Artek wards took part in the celebrations, 870 of them being from the flooded areas.
