Ukraine 3000 Foundation Representatives Meet with Jean-Jacques Bovay, Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova

28 July 2008 18:19

July 28, 2008, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, headed by Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, met with Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Jean-Jacques Bovay.

The participants of the meeting broached upon the subject of the Security Service of Ukraine materials, declassified in the spring of 2008 and dealing with World War II soldiers kept in prisoner of war camps in Ukraine’s territory. Ukraine is prepared to pass the lists of war prisoners to the Committee of the Red Cross, which works, among other, on seeking people missing in war conflicts.

Additionally, Mrs. Yushchenko turned to Mr. Bovay with a request to help in finding and passing to Ukraine all references to the Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 which might be found in the International Committee of the Red Cross archives.

Also, Mr. Bovay spoke about the Committee’s activities and the work of the Regional Delegation for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.

The International Committee of the Red Cross is an independent, neutral organization whose tasks and goals are entirely humanitarian and envisage protection and necessary assistance for victims of war and internal armed violence.

The Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova started its work in 1995. The organization concentrates on promoting international humanitarian law and supporting national Red Cross Societies. The organization works on implementing the international humanitarian law and human rights, render assistance to vulnerable population groups, conduct the search of persons missing due to war conflicts, and supports prisoners.

In the fall of 2007 Kateryna Yushchenko met with Vice President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Jacques Forster in Geneva.
