
Kateryna Yushchenko Visits Paleontology Lab in Chicago

July 1, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited renowned American paleontologist Paul Sereno laboratory.
Mrs. Kateryna familiarized herself with the lab’s work and exhibits and talked to staff members. Mr. Sereno gave Mrs. Yushchenko an account of his laboratory’s major researches and expeditions, in part, the results of the latest expeditions to Mongolia and Africa. He also described in more detail educational programs for children in which he takes part, aimed at arousing kids’ interest in paleontology and archeological research projects.
Mrs. Yushchenko, in her turn, spoke about the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s activities in museum field and Ukraine’s Natural Science Museum’s paleontology collection.
Paul Sereno is a renowned American paleontologist, professor at the University of Chicago, the discoverer of several new dinosaur species in China, Mongolia, and Africa. In 1999 Dr. Sereno founded Project Exploration organization to popularize paleontology, archeology, and other sciences among children and youth. He is decorated with numerous awards for his outstanding contribution into paleontology. Paul Sereno is an author of numerous books and publications in National Geographic and Natural History and hero of many documentaries. Kateryna Yushchenko is staying in Chicago on a brief working visit. Earlier she has visited the Chicago Lighthouse Agency for the people who are blind or visually impaired, taken part in a business lunch with wife of the Mayor of Chicago Maggie Daley, and met with Mayor of Chicago Richard Daley.
