Mrs. Kateryna met with High Commissioner Mrs. Rosario Farmhouse, who presented to her key areas of the institution’s activities.
Mrs. Yushchenko familiarized herself with the work of the ACIDI departments, in part, the legal and sociological offices. ACIDI staff members described to the honorable guest the work of their institution dealing with integration of immigrants, in part, from Ukraine, in Portugal.
Mrs. Yushchenko also met with members of the Portuguese Ukrainian community.
Portugal is the only country in the European Union having a special institution dealing solely with immigration issues and successful integration of third countries’ citizens – High Commissariat for Immigration and Intercultural Dialog (ACIDI). The National Immigrant Support Centers (CNAI) work under the auspices of ACIDI.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko is accompanying President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko in his two-days official visit to Portugal.
