At the hospital, Mrs. Yushchenko and Mr. Kniazevych met with Casey Seguin, Vice President for International Affairs. Among the questions under discussion was possible cooperation between Ukraine 3000 Foundation and SickKids Hospital for Sick Children on training and skill improvement for Ukrainian pediatricians and medical students.
Mrs. Kateryna and the Foundation members met with the hospital management and familiarized themselves with the work of the SickKids charitable foundation supporting the hospital’s operation. They also took a tour of the hospital, visiting, in part, the Hematology, Oncology, Genetics, and Cardio Surgery units.
The medical staff presented to the Ukrainian guests their psychological rehabilitation programs and pain management schemes for children requiring lengthy and painful treatment courses. They also described in detail the work of their research and educational centers, presenting the educational programs for Canadian and foreign doctors and medical students.
