
Mrs. Yushchenko Views Ukrainian Artsits’ Works in Winnipeg

May 27, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, staying with a visit at Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada), familiarized herself with works of Ukrainian artists.
Mrs. Kateryna visited the sculpture garden by renowned Ukrainian Canadian sculptor Leo Mol (Leonid Molodozhanyn). Leo Mol is the author of numerous Taras Shevchenko monuments, including the well-known Washington sculpture. During her tour of the Garden, Mrs. Kateryna talked to Mol’s wife, Mrs. Margaret Mol.
Also, Mrs. Yushchenko visited an exhibition of paintings by David Burliuk, father of the Russian and Ukrainian Futurism, at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. The exhibition, sponsored by the Embassy of Ukraine to Canada, presents Burliuk’s major paintings and some of his recently discovered works. The exhibition is a result of a research by Prof. Myroslav Shkandrij (Manitoba University). The exhibition was sponsored by the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko and Wasyl Topolnicky Memorial Foundation.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko and President Viktor Yushchenko were visiting Canada from May 26 till 29, 2008, as part of the state visit by the President of Ukraine. The Ukrainian delegation has visited Ottawa, Winnipeg, and Toronto.
