Oleksandr Maksymchuk Takes Part in the Corporative Social Responsibility: Civilized Economy and Civilized Society Second International Conference

April 18, 2008, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk took part in the Corporative Social Responsibility: Civilized Economy and Civilized Society Second International Conference. Among other participants of the event, hosted by the Kyiv Hyatt Hotel, were Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system in Ukraine Francis Martin O'Donnell, Executive Director of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship Bradley Googins, General Manager and Country Manager at Microsoft Ukraine Eric Franke, Deputy Minister for Economy of Ukraine Viktor Panteleyenko, Worldwide Director of Corporate Public Affairs at Intel Shelly Esque, Chief Editor of the Ekspert Ukrayina magazine Iskander Khisamov, and other NGO and business representatives from Ukraine, the US, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, and Israel.
The conference consisted of three sessions: Effective Dialog between Governments, Companies, and Society; Responsible Attitude toward Staff Members and Partners as a Solid Basic for a Company; and Investing into the Future. The latter included two round tables, one of which, Shareholders’ Charity: an Extension of Corporative Responsibility or the Birth of Private Philanthropy?, was moderated by Mr. Maksymchuk. Among other participants were CAF Global Trustees representative Natalia Kamynarska, Advisor to the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation’s Committee on Developing Philanthropy and Improving Legislation on Non-Commercial Organizations Svetlana Rubashkina, partner in the ASTERS legal firm Iryna Nazarova, Director for Development at the Viktor Pinchuk Foundation Mykhaylo Minakov, and Director of the Development of Ukraine Foundation Anatoly Zabolotny.
The round table broached, among other, the issue of connections between a company policy and its choice of priority and forms for charitable aid, the correlation between the shareholders’ and staff members’ donations, social responsibility of the business, and private charity. Also, the Russian experience in private funds with specific capital was presented.
The Corporative Social Responsibility: Civilized Economy and Civilized Society Second International Conference was organized by the Ekspert magazine with the support from Ukraine’s Employers’ Confederacy. Books The History of Trust in the Time of Distrust by Olha Alekseyeva and Beyond Good Company: Next Generation Corporate Citizenship by Bradley Googins were presented by their authors in course of the conference.
The Corporative Social Responsibility: Building Your Relationship with the Staff, the Society, and the Authorities First International Conference, held in 2007, hade a huge feedback both from professionals and the society. It resulted in over 50 media publications and a leaflet titled The Corporative Social Responsibility: Experts Evaluation and Practice in Ukraine. Also, a series of international trainings for journalists was held.
