Oleksandr Maksymchuk Takes Part in the To Children with Love and Care All-Ukrainian Conference

17 April 2008 18:24

April 17, 2008, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk together with Director of the Development of Ukraine Charitable Foundation Anatoly Zabolotny took part in the To Children with Love and Care All-Ukrainian Conference. The event, presided over by President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, was dedicated to the problems of orphaned and disabled children, families with many children, and the fight against infant delinquency and homelessness.

Addressing the audience, the President said that the state policy in this area in the last two years had brought certain results. However, many of its aspects remain unsolved and have yet to be improved. In part, he quoted the need to create an integrated and efficient state system of children’s protection.

Another part of the President’s speech was dedicated to disabled children. He demanded from the government and local authorities to pay more attention to addressing their problems. In President Yushchenko’s words, these children have to obtain free access to state institutions, rehabilitation, and be supplied with vehicles. In this context, he placed an emphasis on the efficient work of the boarding schools for the disabled children. In his words, the State Prosecutor’s Office has to perform a comprehensive examination of all such schools to reveal any violations of the children’s rights, in part, timely including them into the adoption lists.

Among the participants of the conference were NSDCU Secretary Raisa Bohatyriova, Vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasiunyk, Minister for Education and Science Ivan Vakarchuk, Internal Affairs Minister Yuri Lutsenko, Minister for Family, Youth, and Sports Yuri Pavlenko, ombudsperson of the Verkhovna Rada Nina Karpachova, and other officials.

Mr. Maksymchuk is staying in Donetsk for a one-day working visit. Earlier he had visited the Donetsk Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital.
