Ukraine 3000 Foundation Head of the Board of Directors Takes Part in a Press Conference on the Deriuhina Naftohaz Cup

March 19, 2008, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk took part in a press conference dedicated to the start of the Deriuhina Naftohaz Cup 16th International Championship on Rhythmic Gymnastics. The competition will be held March 21-23 at the Kyiv Palace of Sports with the support of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation. The Deriuhina Cup founder and organizer Iryna Deriuhina and Head of the Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Association Viktor Korzh also took part in the press conference.
Addressing the audience, Mr. Maksymchuk said that the Ukraine 3000 Foundation was supporting the Deriuhina Cup because helping gifted young people was one of its priorities. “These competitions have long become Ukraine’s gem and calling card,” he said.
Mr. Maksymchuk thanked all partners of the Cup for their understanding of the fact that such competitions increase Ukraine’s influence in the world of athletics. “We hope that this competition will become an important stage in the athletes’ preparation for the main sportive event 2008, the Beijing Olympics,” he said.
Mr. Maksymchuk added that the Ukraine 3000 Foundation has an experience in cooperation with renowned athletes, in part, the Klychko brothers, Liliya Podkopayeva, and Andriy Shevchenko, and wished success, new records, and spectacular performance to the Ukrainian gymnasts.
The Deriuhina Naftohaz Cup International Championship on Rhythmic Gymnastics have been held since 1992. Among their winners were Kateryna Serebrianska, Anna Bessonova, Natalia Hodunko, Tamara Yerofeyeva, Olena Vitrichenko, Alina Kabayeva. In 2008 the Deriuhina Cup will be held in the World Cup status for the second time, with over 160 athletes from 44 countries taking part in it.
