Ukraine Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Representatives Take Part in the Corporative Social Responsibility Discussion Club

March 12, 2008, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Director of the Foundation’s Educational and Scientific Programs Department Oleksandr Oliynyk, and the Board of Directors’ expert on social issues Yuliya Yandrova took part in the Corporative Social Responsibility session at the Banking University at the National Bank of Ukraine’s discussion club. Among other participants were University’s rector Tamara Smovzhenko, Head of the Deposits Guaranteeing Fund Valery Ohyenko, President of the West-Ukrainian Resource Center Foundation to Promote NGOS Casyl Poluyko, representatives of banks, churches, and charitable organizations, and the University’s faculty members.

In the view of the participants in the event, the most efficient way to promote social responsibility among entrepreneurs is instilling it in the future managers, lobbying these ideas through influential people, providing people with information on the experience of the socially-oriented institutions, etc.

To this end, the Banking University at the National Bank of Ukraine presented the newly developed training program on corporative social responsibility and a textbook of the same title. The idea was first suggested by Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko during her visit to the University August 31, 2007.

Those present also emphasized the fact that today the popular notion of social responsibility is charity, through advertising which businessmen are bribing the customers.

In the view of the church representatives, the social responsibility is an individual business, meaning that it cam and must be instilled in people. Unfortunately, the Ukrainians still suffer from residues of the totalitarian regime which didn’t envisage personal responsibility.

In the end of the discussion the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and the Banking University at the National Bank of Ukraine signed a Memorandum on Cooperation. The document envisages intensifying their cooperation in promoting the social responsibility idea as well as organizing a series of events to put these principles into practice.
