
Kateryna Yushchenko Meets with Sumy Oblast Students

February 27, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko met with Sumy oblast high school and college students. Among other participants of the event hosted by the Ukraine’s Banking Business Academy were Head of the Sumy Oblast State Administration Pavlo Kachur, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Rector of the Ukraine’s Banking Business Academy Anatoly Yepifanov, local authorities representatives, heads and teachers of high schools and colleges, young workers, and members of Sumy oblast youth organizations.
Addressing the audience, Mrs. Yushchenko presented the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s work in the area of education. In part, she described the Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Competition, Doing Good Starts with You program, and Human Revival, Rebirth, and Development International Humanitarian Forum. Mrs. Kateryna added that during the Educational Summit scheduled by Ukraine 3000 Foundation for September 2008 at the Artek ICC, the Youth Assembly will be held, involving most active participants and winners of the Innovative Intellect of Ukraine Competition.
Mrs. Yushchenko addressed the Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition participants, thanking the Sumy young people for their participation and reminding them that the winners of the regional selection, to represented Sumy oblast on the national level, would be announced later that day. “I’m especially pleased that a great number of your works is dedicated to the social issues: education, medicine, social responsibility of the business, urgent problems of the society and culture. I believe the fact that you have chosen these topics to prove your desire to see Ukraine as a successful, socially developed, prospering country. It is also a sign that a real civil society is forming in Ukraine,” Mrs. Kateryna said.
After that, the results of the Sumy regional selection of the Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Competition were announced. The oblast submitted 50 works in all nominations. A few hours earlier, the participants presented and defended their works before the regional contest committee.
Mrs. Yushchenko awarded the winners in the Sumy selection with diplomas. The contesters winning first places in their nomination received invitations to the national contest scheduled for March 28-29, 2008.
The list of the winners in Sumy regional selection for the Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition will be published later.
Besides, all the applicants from Sumy oblast received certificates of contest participants from Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation.
