
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko Visits Ivan Marchuk One Man Show

February 26, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited an exhibition of Ukrainian artist Ivan Marchuks early work. The show titled My Soul’s Voice: Early Years is taking place at the Kyiv Arsenal. Ukraine’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Vasyl Vovkun also took part in the exhibition.
The exhibition displays 25 Marchuk’s paintings and drawings. Mrs. Kateryna took a tour of the exhibition and talked to the renowned artist who personally presented his work to the public.
Ivan Marchuk is People’s Artist of Ukraine and laureate of the Shevchenko Prize. Born in 1936 in the village of Moskalivka, Ternopil oblast. Graduated from the art school and art college in Lviv. In the 1960s moved to Kyiv. In 1989 emigrated to Australia, lived in Toronto and New York. In 2001 returned to Ukraine.
Ivan Marchuk was the only Ukrainian to enter the Top 100 Living Genius by Creators Synectics, being placed 72nd.
The Marchuk early works exhibition will continue till March 2.
