
Kateryna Yushchenko Meets with Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and Ukrainian Community Representatives

February 19, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko met in Washington with the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America leaders and Ukrainian community representatives. The event, taking place at the Ukrainian Parlor at the Ukrainian Embassy to the United States, was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States Oleh Shamshur.
The participants of the meeting discussed the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Manmade Famine in Ukraine. The Diaspora representatives told Mrs. Kateryna about UCCA effort to popularize the truth about this tragedy in the US. In her turn, Mrs. Kateryna described the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund’s programs and projects dedicated to Holodomor, in part, the Lessons in History: Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 program.
Mrs. Yushchenko proposed to the members of the Diaspora to intensify the cooperation between youth organizations in Ukraine and those of the American Ukrainians.
Mrs. Kateryna also spoke about Ukraine 3000 Fund’s medical programs in which American doctors and hospitals take part.
Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives are staying in the United States for a working visit. Earlier they met with President and CEO of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions Lawrence McAndrews and US Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt. Mrs. Yushchenko also attended the memorial service for Lev Dobriansky and met with Georgetown University President Dr. John DeGioia.
