
Kateryna Yushchenko Meets with President of the Association of Children’s Hospitals

February 18, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko met in Washington with President and CEO of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions Lawrence McAndrews. Also present at the meeting were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States Oleh Shamshur and Head of the Board of Directors of the Children's Hospital of the Future Charitable Fund Vira Pavliuk.
Mrs. Yushchenko told Mr. McAndrews about the Ukraine 3000 Fund work, in part, its medical projects and programs: Children's Hospital of the Future, Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements, and Hospital to Hospital. Discussing the Children's Hospital of the Future, Mr. MacAndrews described major trends in creating modern patient care institutions for children.
Mr. MacAndrews proposed to organize and carry out a meeting in Washington between leading members of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions and staff members of Ukrainian hospital, shaping up the policy and basis of children’s medicine in Ukraine. He also invited Ukrainian doctors to take part in a Denver conference dedicated to designing children’s hospitals, scheduled for May 2008.
The National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions is a non-profit organization uniting children’s hospitals, medical centers, and rehabilitation centers. Its major goal is supporting children’s hospitals, protecting and lobbying their interests on the federal level, promoting their mission to render efficient medical service o children. The Association includes over 200 member institutions in the US, Canada, and some other countries, giving service to 70 million children and their families. It also carries out comprehensive educational programs for pediatricians and helps in planning development strategies.
