
Kateryna Yushchenko Meets with Director General of the International Federation of Film Producers Associations Benoit Ginisty

February 12, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko met with Director General of the International Federation of Film Producers Associations Benoit Ginisty. Among other participants of the meeting were Ukraine’s Minister for Culture Vasyl Vovkun, Director of the Ukrainian Cinema Foundation Andriy Khalpakhchi, and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives.
The participants of the meeting discussed the cooperation between Ukrainian film producers and International Federation of Film Producers Associations. In part, Mr. Ginisty proposed to organize a series of conferences or roundtables at the Molodist Film Festival aimed at involving Ukrainian producers into the international network.
Mrs. Yushchenko spoke about the major priorities of the Ukrainian Cinema Foundation, in part, events aimed at promoting Ukrainian cinema at international festivals. She also said that Ukraine was currently working on legal base, aimed at favoring the national cinema and based on the international experience along with the peculiarities of the Ukrainian legislation. Mrs. Yushchenko emphasized that these changes in legislation will, among other things, create opportunities for implementing joint producing projects.
Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund members are taking part in the events of the 58th Berlin International Film Festival. February 11 they took part in the Cinema for Peace reception, and February 12 visited the European Film Market and met with the Cannes Film Festival leaders.
