The European Film Market had been part of the Berlin International Film Festival since 1980. it is held at a 2500 sq m exhibition hall at Potsdamer Platz. The market’s visitors are film entrepreneurs, producers, writers, etc. The European Film Market is believed to be a broad platform for making new contacts and familiarizing oneself with latest trends in many countries’ cinema markets. It arouses primarily commercial interest, opening broad possibilities and prospects for young and yet unknown cinema producers. The Market’s organizers closely cooperate with Frankfurt Book Market managers. Thus, the Market features book stands with latest novelties along with film stands.
This year the European Film Market schedules 600 demonstrations of almost 400 films from throughout the world. Ukraine is presented at the Market for the first time ever, offering five films: the full-length At the Riverside by Yeva Neyman and short films Stray Dog by Valeriy Yamburzky, Pledge by Maryna Vroda, On the Border by Artem Sukharev/Mykyta Ratnykov, and Cab Driver by Roman Bondarchuk.
Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund members are taking part in the events of the 58th Berlin International Film Festival.
