February 2, 2008, the International Rehabilitation Clinics (Truskavets) hosted the awards ceremony of the Second All-Ukrainian Grant Competition for Treatment and Rehabilitation Institutions for Children with Cerebral Palsy. This contest was part of the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s and TNK-BP Commerce Company’s joint program, Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements.

Among the participants of the events were Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko, TNK-BP Commerce Company President Serhiy Lizunov, and Head of the Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements program Oleksandra Mykolyshyn.

Addressing the representatives of the grant-receiving institutions, Mrs. Yushchenko thanked them for helping the state and community solve problems of rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy. “I am pleased to see so many people from throughout Ukraine, united by their common strive to render high quality aid to children with cerebral palsy,” she said.

“I promise we’ll do everything possible to create a unified medical and social rehabilitation system for people, primarily children, with special needs,” Mrs. Yushchenko added. She also thanked the TNK-BP Commerce Company, in her words, “a big company caring about little people.” “They should serve as a model for everyone,” she said.

Mrs. Yushchenko thanked all winners for their hard everyday work to bring Ukrainian children back to health.

Mr. Lizunov said in his speech that the TNK-BP Commerce Company was pleased to take part in the program allowing children with special needs obtain important and timely support. He also thanked the Ukraine 3000 Fund for fruitful cooperation and expressed his hope that it would continue. He said that the number of applications had grown twofold compared to the first contest. “This means that people got to believe in this program, that it has brought visible effect. These are only the first steps; the program will continue and, hopefully, be a success,” Mr. Lizunov said

In her turn, Ms. Mykolyshyn presented the Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements program’s attainment for the year 2007.

After that, the awards ceremony took place, with Mrs. Yushchenko and Mr. Lizunov delivering award certificates to representatives of the 17 institutions winning the grants.

The Ukraine 3000 Fund’s and TNK-BP Commerce Company’s joint program, Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements, was launched in May 2006.
