
Mrs. Yushchenko Meets with Widenmoos Business Club Members (Switzerland)

January 25, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko met with members of the Widenmoos Business Club (Switzerland) – the club founder Fredi Buhler and cardio surgeon Prof. Paul Vogt.
The participants of the meeting discussed areas for further cooperation between Ukraine 3000 Fund and Widenmoos Club. Recall that October 6, 2007, Mrs. Yushchenko held a working meeting with the Club members, with Mr. Buhler announcing a series of initiatives by a group of Switzerland-based children’s cardio surgeons, headed by Prof. Vogt, and aimed at rendering aid to the Lviv OKHMATDIT Hospital. As a result of this meeting, Prof. Vogt proposed to perform surgeries on six Ukrainian children at a specialized Zurich clinics on charitable basis. The proposal had been thoroughly considerd, and December 18, 2007, a trilateral agreement was signed between Ukraine 3000 Fund, Prof. Vogt, and the Slavic Foundation (US) on organizing treatment and surgeries for Ukrainian children with complicated heart pathologies in Switzerland.
In Prof. Vogt’s words, the surgeries on the first three patients had been scheduled for February 2008. Besides, Prof. Vogt announced that children’s cardio surgical equipment had been donated to the Lviv OKHMATDIT Hospital, adding that the Swiss party was prepared to conduct training for their Ukrainian colleagues on using this equipment. He also said that the little Lviv-based patients would be accompanied to Switzerland by their doctors, giving the latter a chance to familiarize themselves with Swiss experience in treating cardiovascular pathologies in children.
In his turn, Mr. Buhler spoke about the Widenmoos Club’s initiatives aimed at cooperation with Ukraine.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko is taking part in the events of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Earlier she took part in a roundtable dedicated to philanthropy and met with Director-General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura.
