December 25, 2007, the Beneficial New Year’s Ball 2007 and Surprise Auction were held in Zaporizhzhia, featuring lots from Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund. Among other participants of the event, organized by Zaporizhzhia-based charitable and public organizations, were representatives of the Zaporizhzhia authorities, businesspeople, and pop stars. The event was aimed at raising funds to purchase equipment for lymphostasis treatment for women after mastectomy.
Expert with the Social Council at the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Yuliya Yandrova read out a greeting list from Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko. “I highly appreciate your noble purposes in combining the effort and goodwill of all people caring about women’s fate. “Raising money for post-surgery rehabilitation for women with breast cancer is an example to follow. Your actions are evidence that we do have people willing to attend to health issues, since a healthy nation means first of all healthy women and mothers,” the letter read.
The Ukraine 3000 Fund presented two lots for the auction: books Honey for Mommy and two volume Ukraine and Ukrainians with compliment slips from Kateryna Yushchenko. Each book was bought for UAH 2,000. In total, the Beneficial New Year’s Ball 2007 raised a record-beating for Zaporizhzhia sum of UAH 1,104,627.
The Beneficial New Year’s Ball was held in Zaporizhzhia for the second time. In 2006 the organizers raised UAH 50,000, 10,000 of which were donated for creating the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, the Children’s Hospital of the Future. The rest of the money was earmarked for treating children with blood cancer.
