
Ukraine 3000 Fund Members Meet with Vice-President of International Committee of the Red Cross Jacques Forster

November 7, 2007, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko and Fund members had a meeting with Vice-President of International Committee of the Red Cross Jacques Forster.
In course of the meeting, Mr. Forster described the work of the International Committee of the Red Cross aimed at protecting victims of international and internal armed conflicts. He also outlined the major areas of the Committee’s activities in Ukraine, presenting joint programs by the Committee and Ukraine’s National Red Cross Association. In part, he spoke about educational projects for the young, aimed at studying international humanitarian legislation, implemented, in part, at the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Mr. Forster mentioned also another area of the Committee’s work in Ukraine, promoting the establishment of a tracing agency for family reunification.
In her turn, Mrs. Yushchenko described the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s activities and its cooperation with the UN System. She quoted, in part, the History Lessons: Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 program and the exhibition to be unveiled in Geneva.
Mrs. Yushchenko is staying in Geneva for a two-days working visit. Its major goal is the unveiling of the Executed by Famine: the Unknown Genocide of the Ukrainians exhibition at Geneva Municipal Library.
