The Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund has become the 82nd Ukrainian entity to join the UN Global Compact initiative. October 22, 2007, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko received a certificate to this end from Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Ukraine Mr. Francis Martin O'Donnell.
“We highly appreciate the UN initiative of creating the Global Compact to consolidate efforts of the socially responsible businesses throughout the world,” Mrs. Kateryna said. “The Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund consciously joins the Global Compact, undertaking obligations to implement its basic principles and establish partnership with Ukrainian participants of the Compact to support the UN goals.”
The Global Compact was initiated in 1999 by United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Its goal is global expansion of the ten universal strategic business principles dealing with human rights, labor relations, environment, and fight against corruption. In accordance with the Compact, business circles have to support and respect the protection of international human rights, support the freedom of assembly, fighting children’s labor and unfair labor practices, developing and introducing ecologically safe technologies, and fight against corruption. Today, the Global Compact is an international network uniting around 2,500 companies in almost 90 countries, cooperating for the sake of stable economic development.
In April 2006, the Global Compact was first introduced in Ukraine. Many Ukrainian companies, business associations, work collectives, and public organizations active in the social responsibility sphere have joined this important initiative. The Ukraine 3000 Fund has become the 82nd Ukrainian entity to sign the UN Global Compact and reaffirm its intention to follow the ten universal principles.
