Meeting between Representatives of the Ukraine 3000 Fund and Vice Chairperson of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation Tang Wensheng

October 5, 2007, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund representatives met with Vice Chairperson of the Chinese Soong Ching Ling Foundation Tang Wensheng. Among other participants in the meeting were representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy to China and the General Consulate of Ukraine in Shanghai.

In course of the meeting Mrs. Yushchenko and Ms. Wensheng exchanged information on their Funds current programs and projects.

Besides, a Memorandum on Cooperation was signed between the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and the Chinese Soong Ching Ling Foundation. The document was signed by Ms. Wensheng and Advisor to the Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Andriy Myroshnichenko. The Memorandum envisages implementing joint programs in the spheres of culture, education, and medicine.

Greeting the participants of the meeting on the ratification of the Memorandum, Mrs. Yushchenko said that many educational programs run by both Funds coincide in their areas. “I seriously hope that our cooperation will be fruitful and interesting,” she said. Mrs. Kateryna invited the members of the Chinese Soong Ching Ling Foundation to visit Ukraine.

Mrs. Yushchenko and the Ukraine 3000 Fund members visited the Soong Ching Ling memorial park and museum, along with the Science and Technology Museum for the young, which is a part of the Foundation. Mrs. Yushchenko laid flowers to the Soong Ching Ling monument.

The Soong Ching Ling Foundation is a renowned in China public organization, carrying out cultural and artistic events aimed at supporting children and encouraging their creativity. The Foundation organizes numerous cultural programs: musical contests, children’s photo exhibitions, etc. To encourage writers, the Foundation has established awards for best children’s book, highly prestigious in China. They have also created a literary salon, where everybody can exchange their impression of the books they read.

Ms. Tang Wensheng visited Ukraine in 2006 as a guest of the First Human Rebirth, Revival, and Development International Humanitarian Forum.

Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives are staying in China to support the athletes of the Ukrainian national team at the Special Olympics 2007, to be held October 2-11 in Shanghai.

October 2, 2007, Mrs. Yushchenko met with President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao, Head of the China Disabled Persons Federation Den Pufan, and took part in the Special Olympics opening ceremony.

October 3, Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives took part in the the Global Policy Summit on the Well-being of People with Intellectual Disabilities and visited Ukrainian artist Kateryna Hutnikova-Mykhaylova’s one-woman show.

October 4, Mrs. Yushchenko met with Sheng Changli, Vice Governor of Zhejiang province.

October 5, 2007, Mrs. Yushchenko unveiled the Ukrainian Language Chair at the Shanghai Foreign Relations University, and met with members of the Ukrainian soccer team taking part in the Special Summer Olympics 2007.
