Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Kateryna Yushchenko Meets with Head of China’s National Federation of the Disabled

October 2, 2007, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko met with Head of China’s National Federation of the Disabled Den Pufan. Among other participants of the event were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the People's Republic of China Serhiy Kamyshev and Advisor to the Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Andriy Myroshnichenko.

In course of the meeting, Mr. Pufan thanked Mrs. Yushchenko for coming to Shanghai and for her support for the Special Olympics. In his words, it has immediately raised the status of the event. Mr. Pufan shared his impressions of his last year’s visit to Ukraine, mentioning the good situation with protecting the rights of the disabled in Ukraine.

In her turn, Mrs. Yushchenko thanked the Chinese part for giving the Ukrainian athletes a chance to take part in the Olympics and for their support of Ukraine’s Paralympics team.

The parties also touched upon the question of legal protection of the rights of the disabled. In part, Mr. Pufan spoke about the situation in this sphere in China.

Mrs. Yushchenko suggested expanding the cooperation between Ukrainian and Chinese organizations of the disabled persons in the cultural sphere.

Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives are staying in China to support the athletes of the Ukrainian national team at the Special Olympics 2007, to be held October 2-11 in Shanghai. A series of events with the participation of Mrs. Yushchenko is on the agenda of the trip, in part, unveiling the Ukrainian Language Chair at the Shanghai University.

October 2, 2007, Mrs. Yushchenko met with President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao and is going to take part in the Special Olympics opening ceremony.
