August 31, 2007, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Kateryna Yushchenko took part in the Day of Knowledge festivities at the Banking Business University at the National Bank of Ukraine.
Head of the NBU Council Petro Poroshenko, Head of the NBU and Honorary Professor of the University Volodymyr Stelmakh, former Vice Premier and Minister of Finance of Ukraine Viktor Pynzenyk, Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Holiest Libomyr Huzar, Rector of the Banking Business University at the National Bank of Ukraine Tamara Smovzhenko, directors of the Lviv, Kharkiv, and Cherkasy Banking Business Institutes, faculty members, and major students also took part in the celebration.
Addressing the audience, Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko pointed to the high level of responsibility of the bank workers. “I am glad to know that their responsibility isn’t restricted to their work. I often hear of banks supporting or initiating charitable actions, thus helping to solve our country’s urgent social problems and displaying their social responsibility,” she said.
Mrs. Yushchenko added that it would be nice if the future bankers, along with their major classes, learned social responsibility. In her view, this would help them not only take part in charities in a conscious way, but also help others to do so.
Mrs. Yushchenko suggested that the University students and faculty, jointly with the Ukraine 3000 Fund, launched a pilot project to work out the Business Social Responsibility Basics optional course, to be further introduced in Ukraine’s corresponding universities, which would strengthen the civil society in Ukraine.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko donated to the Banking Business University at the National Bank of Ukraine Library the Ukraine, Cossack State book.
Mrs. Kateryna also held a brief meeting with University students and faculty.
