October 30, 2006, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko and representatives of eleven major Ukrainian TV channels signed a Memorandum on Cooperation within the framework of the project to create and construct The Children's Hospital of the Future.
The Memorandum was signed by Oleksandr Asauliuk (M1 Channel), Volodymyr Borodiansky (STB Channel), Hanna Bezliudna (K1 Channel), Iryna Lysenko (Novy Channel), Yevheniya Batayeva (Tonis Channel), Roman Andreyko (24 Channel), Vitaly Dokalenko (the National Television Company of Ukraine), Yuri Morozov (1+1 Channel), Natalia Katerynchuk (NTN Channel), Oleksandr Bohutsky (ICTV Channel), and Leonid Mazor (Inter Channel).
Addressing the journalists. Mrs. Yushchenko said, “The implementation of such project in the modern world is impossible without due support from the mass media, since tens of millions of Ukrainians watch television. We are happy to find support and understanding with the Ukrainian television channels. This is evidence not only of the fact that best traditions of Ukrainian philanthropy are being revived. This is also evidence of a true civil society being created in Ukraine, where the society actively participates in solving urgent social problems (…) Today we have made one more step toward making our dream come true. For a while, the major Ukrainian television channels will cease to be competitors and unite for a common goal. I am sincerely grateful to every one of you. I promise you, you will be proud of yourself and of the new Ukraine we build, combining our efforts and aspirations.”
Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk said that every channel joining in the action will decide on its own upon the ways of its participation. He added that the Memorandum is open for the participation of other Ukrainian TV channels, expressing his hope that both national and regional channels would join it.
The participation of the channels in the project to create and construct The Children's Hospital of the Future envisages implementing a television fundraising project, preparing and publicizing social advertising (the channels decide on the volume of the advertisement independently), advertising the 353 hotline number, covering and supporting the promotional tour of Ukraine’s oblasts, preparing information materials and special television shows dedicated to the implementation of the project.
The channels participating in the project will also control the raising and draft of the funds accumulated in course of the project to create and construct The Children's Hospital of the Future in Kyiv.
The action will culminate in a telethon on December 17, on the eve of St. Nicholas’s Day. On that day a telethon will be held on Ukrainian television channels, whose format is still to be defined. December 19, the results of the action will be summed up and made public.
