Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko Presents the Project of the Children’s Hospital to Ukrainian Pediatricians

October 17, Head of the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s Supervisory Board Kateryna Yushchenko took part in the opening meeting of the Third Congress of Ukrainian Pediatricians. Among other participants of the event were President of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences and Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Oleksandr Vozianov and Health Minister Yuri Poliachenko.
In her greeting speech, Mrs. Yushchenko said, “I welcome the true heroes of Ukraine, who give health and often life to millions of Ukrainian children every day. Thank you for your professionalism, kindness, and devotedness to your work.” Mrs. Yushchenko also said that during her term as Head of the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s Supervisory Board she had been to many Ukraine’s cities, visited local children’s hospitals, and met with the doctors. “I had a chance to see first-hand the results of your striking and devoted work. I also saw first-hand the difficult conditions in which you have to work: old, shabby premises, outdated apparatuses, lack of not just modern but virtually any equipment indispensable to treating your little patients.” Mrs. Yushchenko also stressed that the society requires fundamental changes in the issues of financing the healthcare. “There are no countries financing their medicine solely from the state budget. A modern high-quality healthcare system won’t become possible unless supported by insurance medicine and philanthropists,” she said.
Mrs. Yushchenko also told the Congress participants about the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s Hospital to Hospital program. She presented to the Ukrainian pediatricians a project to create and construct a Children’s Hospital of the Future, asking them to discuss and support this project. Director of the Hospital to Hospital Program Vira Pavliuk described the project in more detail.
Third Congress of Ukrainian Pediatricians is being held from October 17 to 19 at the Kyiv Cinema House.
