
Kateryna Yushchenko Visits the Odesa Oblast Center to Prevent and Fight AIDS

Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited the Odesa Oblast Center to Prevent and Fight AIDS. This event was part of the agenda of Mrs. Yushchenko’s visit to Odesa at the invitation of UNICEF United Nations Children's Fund.
Mrs. Yushchenko met with wife of the President of Germany Mrs. Eva Luise Koehler, UNICEF patron. They visited a kindergarten for HIV positive children in the Center's territory, familiarized themselves with its work and talked to the children and their parents. First ladies also met with the Center’s and kindergarten’s medical staff and social workers, discussing urgent problems of these institutions.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation Mrs. Yushchenko presented the kindergarten an icon, toys, and books for its library.
The event was also participated by representatives of Ukraine’s Health Ministry and Family, Youth, and Sports Ministry, along with Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and UNICEF.
The kindergarten for HIV positive children was founded in 2003 under the patronage of UNICEF. Up to sixteen children from Odesa oblast attend it on daily basis. In addition to traditional classes, the children receive here psychological and medical support.
On September 1, Kateryna Yushchenko was in Odesa for a one-day visit at the invitation of UNICEF. The visit’s agenda included a visit to the Odesa Oblast Center to Prevent and Fight AIDS and the Doroha Dodomu [The Way Home] Orphanage under the aegis of UNICEF.
