Ukraine 3000 and TNK-BP present medicaments to children with cancer
31 March 2006 18:01
The Ukraine 3000 Foundation and TNK-BP Ukraine presented medicaments to the children’s cancer department of the Cancer Institute.
Grygoriy Klymnyuk, Children’s Head Oncologist, said these “are the medications that Ukraine’s Health Ministry has never bought for us.” He added that the most unique of them was Isofluran, a strong anesthetic drug that helps surgeons perform surgeries for about six hours but does not affect little patients.
“To use Isofluran, you need a special machine. We have this equipment in our department but could not use it because we did not have the drug,” he said.
Andriy Myroshnichenko, Adviser to the Head of the Ukraine 3000 Supervisory Council, said today’s ceremony was the final stage of a joint charitable program started by the foundation and the oil company last December 2005.
“Improving health care for children is one of the priorities of our foundation. Every minute, doctors of this department fight for children’s lives. We are grateful to TNK-BP for buying equipment and medicaments that improve doctors’ working conditions and quality of treatment. We have always been saying that by carrying out such programs we save Ukrainian children,” he said.
In his turn, Oleksandr Gorodetsky, TNK-BP Ukraine President, said, “This has been the first joint project of TNK-BP and Ukraine 3000 and we are pleased with its results, for we see that our money is used transparently and efficiently. This is the most important criterion to evaluate what we do. I am sure our further cooperation and particularly the project “The Joy of Childhood: Free Moves” will also be successful.”
