Ukraine learnt the names of the best philanthropists of 2011. The winners list of the Fifth Anniversary “Philanthropist of the Year” Competition was announced on December 13, 2011 during a joint press-conference of the competition’s Supervisory Council, Media-Council, the Organizing Committee and Jury.

The ceremony starts at 7 pm. Prizewinners of the current as well as of previous competitions will attend the event along with members of the Supervisory and Media Councils, the Jury and the Organizing Committee of the competition, public figures, businessmen, prominent sport, culture and art figures, reputable Ukrainian philanthropists.

December 12, 2011, the presentation dedicated to the relaunch of the fund’s activities took place at Maria Zankovetska Drama Theater. The concert was held in the great hall of the Kyiv City State Administration. Blind performers from all over Ukraine took part in the concert. They shared the stage with leading Ukrainian artists and the Orchestra of the Maria Zankovetska National Ukrainian Drama Theatre of Lviv.

The memorial events started with a mourning procession from the metro station Arsenalna towards the Memorial to the Victims of Holodomor in Ukraine National Museum. The mourners carried candles with black ribbons and the names of children who fell victims of the genocide of 1932-1933.

Over 3000 objects – the belongings of the victims of repressions of 1937-1941 - are on display. The objects were taken from various museums, while the cornerstone of the exhibition are the materials discovered by a joint Ukrainian –Polish exhibition that carried out the excavations in Bykivnia this year.

The Special Award “People’s Philanthropist” will be granted to a private individual residing in Ukraine or to an institution. The winner will be elected based on the online voting. The award will be presented during the Award Ceremony “Philanthropist of the Year – 2011” on December 15, 2011.

The Organizing Committee approved of the date and venue of the official award ceremony. The ceremony will be held on December 15, 2011 at 19 pm in Kiev at the “Mystetskyi Arsenal” Museum Complex for Culture and Art.
